This is how my 2011 season is shaping up at this point.
5/1 Eugene Marathon, Eugene OR
5/22 Duck Bill Thrill triathlon, Eugene OR. Olympic distance (1.5k swim/40k bike/10k run)
6/12 Boise Ironman 70.3, Boise ID. Half Ironman (1.2m swim/56m bike/13.1m run)
6/26 Pacific Crest Triathlon, Sun River OR. Olympic distance (1.5k swim/ 40k bike/10k run)
7/9 Treasure Island Triathlon, Sanfran CA. Olympic distance (1.5k swim/40k bike/10k run)
7/31 Amica Mid-Summer Triathlon, Blue Lake OR. Sprint (750meter swim/20k bike/5k run)
8/20 USA Triathlon National Championships, Burlington VT, oly or sprint
9/3 Stumptown Triathlon, Portland OR. Half Ironman, (1.2m swim/56m bike/13.1m run)
9/17 Grand Columbian, Washington. Half Ironman, 1.2m swim/56m bike/13.1m run
There are a number of reasons that I chose this lineup of races. The Boise 70.3 will be my first half ironman, and I am anxious to see how my time compares to the qualifiers for the world championships. The Treasure Island race will be my qualifying race for nationals at the olympic distance if I miss qualifying at the Duck Bill Thrill. Pacific Crest and Amica are both training races chosen to get me to top form for Nationals. Depending on how my times are looking in the olympic distance, I will race Nationals in the sprint or olympic depending on which distance gives me the best chance to qualify for Team USA Triathlon. The Grand Columbian is a qualifier for the long course USAT Nationals. Make no mistake though. My #1 priority of 2011 is making Team USA.

I’m so glad you race obsessively, too! Makes me look normal!
